Youngin’s question:Why is the Durham report possibly the most significant document in Canadian history? What made it so significant?
Lord durham’s report was a very significant document because it pointed out what was wrong with the canada’s at the time. It gained peoples attention to what was happening and what needed to happen. Eventhough the report didnt work out in the short term, it ended up leading to a responsible goverment and got rid of the seperate states as well as eventually leading to independece. So without the report the canada’s would have been in turmoil for much longer than it was with all the racism and the awful goverment system it had at the time, there probably
would have been more rebellions and people leaving to settle in the states.
